Yes, It Has To Be Done

AML" Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Training is required for Financial Professionals.

Depending upon the carrier it must be completed every 1 to 2 years.  There is no "Grandfathering" or exclusions to this training.

To assist with this requirement, training is available online at no cost through LIMRA. The LIMRA training may be accessed by registered users through the CFM Network at https://aml.limra.com. Registration is given when a carrier that accepts LIMRA AML appoints you. For first time users, your username is the first four characters of your last name (in lower case) along with the last six digits of your social security number and your password is your last name (in lower case). Once logged in you will be prompted to change your password for security purposes.

Please note LIMRA does not give you an electronic or paper certificate; they electronically send reports to the carriers appointing you. On the home page of the training site, there will be a section for carriers; click on each of their names to confirm with LIMRA that the completion of your AML courses are to be shared with these carriers.
If the agent has already taken the base course, then the agent will need to return to LIMRA periodically and take any refresher courses available to stay in compliance.

If the agent has completed the Anti-Money Laundering Training through a broker dealer, carrier sponsored program, organization sponsored program, or any other program/course other than online with LIMRA, he/she will need to provide a completion certificate. However, if the appointing carrier cannot confirm the certification, the agent will be required to complete the training through LIMRA.
